Since the beginning, the DJ has always been a staple in hip hop music. The daily grind for most include anything from backing up Mcs with scratching and break beats to breaking the newest record on the radio. Although the job seems endless, for DJ Eklectic, his task has much more significance.

Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, Eklectic will tell you that he had a pretty normal life. When asked about his childhood he offered this response, “I had a good childhood, I grew up with both of my parents being around. My dad was in the military but we didn't move around too much. He would leave from time to time, going to Korea or Germany. I grew up in church and believed in Jesus Christ but as I got older I grew further and further from Him.”

Like many youth, the world and it’s offerings seem more and more enticing as we get older. Our innocence slowly decays, day after day. It wasn’t until the summer of 2004, that the Lord did what only he could do, and arrest the heart of the now adult DJ Eklectic. “I was going through some things. I was in a new city, I had a new job, everything was changing and I felt alone.” Eklectic reflects. “Then, I was invited to church one night, like I had been many times before, except this time I decided to check it out. At that moment I just felt like the Lord was saying its time for me to live. So I surrendered to Him.” And that He did.

Two summers later, another life altering decision was made. Although, Eklectic had always been a avid music enthusiast, he’d never had an outlet to satisfy his musical cravings beyond listening to a plethora of records. So, in 2006, on a whim he picked up Djing. From doing blends and releasing mixtapes to scratching and playing events, his plate was full.

Today, you can hear DJ Eklectic on the Monday Madness radio show or at your local events. When asked, What are you goals as a DJ. He said this, “My goal as a DJ is to bring exposure to Christian Rap & Jesus Christ. There is so much negativity in the music today I hope to show people that there is positive hip hop music out there. I feel like we have some of the best producers, beatmakers and artists out there and a lot of people don't even know about it. Music is so powerful and it can affect a persons moods, actions and even opinions. Christian Rap can be used to encourage, disciple and even lead someone to salvation. That being said I feel I need to push the genre to help this generation.”
