The term soldier is so cliché today. Many people claim it’s title but constantly run from it’s responsibilities. For producer, entrepreneur, and San Diego native, Doc Watson, that word means so much more.
For hip hop, 90s west coast rap was one of the most influential eras of our time. Doc recalls listening to Dr. Dre records and desiring to make beats. So at the age of 15, he did something about. With a drum machine and tons of time, the producer began to hone his craft in his bedroom.
After graduating high school, Doc decided to try his hand in the military. The drum machine took a backseat to the task at hand, which was survival. After nine years in the military and two tours of the “Middle East,” this is what Doc has to say about his experience in the army. “Being in the Army was a dramatic change for me. The Army provided me with an opportunity to grow and become a man. The Army also helped shape and mold my culture and my spirit. I went through many different breaking points while in the military. I did not always make good decisions and at times I chased after the world, but after fighting for two years straight, being ambushed by the locals, and constant fatigue I realized that God was real and I needed him.” That’s when Doc’s life was changed forever and the vision of Christlike Entertainment was born.
Today when asked, “What are your main goals for CLE?” Doc responds, “The main goal is to see God use us up. When C.L.E birthed Reflection Music Group, I sensed a change in me and the rest of our camp, so I speak for us all. I did not have a pure goal and didn't even know what it was supposed to be. Now I do know what God wants so our goal is to reach as many as God desires by using music simply as a
tool. This is what we are gifted to do so we are going after it 110%. We hope RMG is able to grow as big as God wills it, providing us with a platform that can put him in front of anyone. We plan to provide great music that people can feel that glorifies the Lord...helping to replace old music, helping to minister to all that love hip hop, and better yet helping other communities minister in their respective areas. All in all I just want to see it grow all the time so God gets the Glory.”
